Our story begun far in 1954
in Lumezzane

We have always been a family company, founded by Mr. Lorenzo Camplani 70 years ago, that passed to his children and grandchildren his experience and deep know-how united to a typical Italian creativity and inventiveness.

From small tool shop for trimming dies, Omec has constantly expanded over the years and now hosts every single step of the production cycle of all its items. 

The original factory in Via Caselli is now a modern building we are very proud of: very organized, clean and efficient, where year after year we enlarge the room dedicated to the new machines that allows us to grow our production always exclusively Made in Italy. 

Creativity and passion for finely crafted products, well-finished on the slightest details and designed to meet the most varied needs of the locksmiths, has accompanied our job all over these years and has allowed us to grow and enlarge our offer of locks and security accessories.

  1. 1954: OMEC FOUNDATION IN LUMEZZANE

    Omec was born from the idea of the young Lorenzo Camplani, that together with a friend started producing moulds in a small tool trim shop in Lumezzane, in the hearth of Valtrompia, Brescia.

     

  2. 1960: THE FIRST LOCKS

    The economic boom in Italy was beginning and the small company soon started to enlarge its activity focusing on the production of locks for wooden doors.

     

  3. 1962: LOCKS FOR ROLLING SHUTTERS

    Omec begins the production of locks for rolling shutters.

     

     

  4. 1965 : THE FIRST LOCKS FOR WOODEN DOORS

    ​Omec starts producing the first locks for wooden doors with profile cylinders.

     

     

  5. 1967 : THE FIRST HORIZONTAL LOCKS WITH OVAL CYLINDERS

    When, at the end of the ’60, the alumium frames started to be more and more used, Camplani engaged on the project of locks specifically designed for this kind of frames, creating the very first horizontal locks with oval cylinders.

     

  6. 1970 : OMEC “BLUE JEANS” LOCKS ARE BORN

    Horizontal lock cases are covered with a light blue plastic protection, very similar to denim pattern, that soon became and still is the original and distinctive characteristic of Omec locks.

     

  7. 1975: HORIZONTAL ELECTRIC LOCKS

    In the  ’70 the company keeps growing and enlarges the production of locks.

    The first horizontal electric locks are born.

     

     

  8. 1980: LOCKS FOR GLASS DOORS

    Locks production expands to specific projects designed in collaboration with glass doors producers, locks get smaller and with a particular eye on design.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  9. 1985: THE ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN FOR OMEC 30TH ANNIVERSARY

    The company celebrates the first 30 years of activity with a great advertising campaign:

  10. 1990 : THE FIRST SECURITY LOCKS

    The market requires safer and safer locks: Omec starts producing the first vertical security “1400” locks and the multipoint locks:

    with tipping dead bolt and patented lock-picking system, both mechanic and electric, they’re still the security locks most requested by the locksmiths.

     

  11. 1995: OMEC FIRST PANIC EXIT DEVICE

    The offer of security products of Omec Serrature welcomes the first panic devices for emergency exits.

     

  12. 1999: THE NEW QUARTERS

    Omec gets larger and renews the original factory in Via Caselli: the 6000 m2 quarters makes room for new, high- tech machines that allow us to grow our production always exclusively Made in Italy.

     

  13. 2001: HORIZONTAL SECURITY LOCKS

    The range of horizontal locks gets larger with the new double-bit key security locks.

     

  14. 2006: THE NEW WAVE PANIC EXIT DEVICES

    Omec presents the new panic exit device for emergency exits: new design developped in collaboration with a French architect.

     

     

  15. 2010: THE NEW LAB AND TECHNICAL OFFICES

    Omec opens the new technical department and certificate lab for the products testing.

     

  16. 2011 : LOCKS WITH GEAR MECHANISM MOVEMENTS

    Omec presents the first line of locks with advancing dead bolts: technical innovation and top quality meet to get the highest security.

     

  17. 2015: GREEN TECHNOLOGY

    Omec makes big investments to increase productivity with a special attention to environment:

    buys new low environmental impact production machines and installs photovoltaic panels to use only self-sustaining clean energy in the production plant.
